Personally I believe this kind of radical Christianity is far more dangerous than radical Islam because it is already on our shores, has insinuated itself into every corner of American life including schools, courts and government, is widely accepted as morally superior and enforces cruelty, judgment and condemnation on a far wider scale than radial Islam.

Are you kidding me?!? How the hell did this guy get elected. I guess it just goes to show you don’t have to pass an IQ test to get into politics. That he hasn’t been laughed out of office by his colleagues or run out on a pitch fork by his constituents is deplorable.

After much publicity and a fare amount of ridicule Johnson came out and said “I wasn’t suggesting that the island of Guam would literally tip over,” he said. Johnson said he was “using a metaphor” to describe how adding more military personnel to the tiny island “could be a tipping point which could adversely affect the island’s fragile ecosystem and could overburden its stressed infrastructure.”

I’m not one to criticize the members of the US Armed Forces who are doing incredibly tough jobs in even tougher environments but this is pretty egregious.

One of my all time favorites quotes – typically attributed to Voltare though thought to actually have originated from Ewelyn Beatrice Hall – is:

I may not agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

I have no love for the man but I do love the fact that we live in a country where a man like Rush can say what he said freely. I also love that we live in a country where those who disagree can freely voice their opposition and those who agree can chine in to their heart’s content.

What scares me a bit is the number of people commenting on blogs that we should “start Civil War II” or “take out the new Hitler”. It’s this response that I can’t imagine is what Rush is striving for. I honestly believe he’s just an entertainer cashing in on his innate ability to be controversial. I think he serves a purpose and that is to drive moderate conservatives to become independents or democrats.

I just wish there wasn’t this undercurrent of violence and hatred. It makes me sad.
